Gold Vermeil (1-micron 18K solid gold)

Joy of Jade gold vermeil jewelry is much higher in quality than regular gold-plated jewelry. Due to the very thick layer of 1-micron gold vermeil in 18K tone, you get precision and long durability at a much lower cost than gold jewelry.

What is gold vermeil?

Gold vermeil is a high-quality and specific version of gold plating that provides perfect balance of long-lasting wear and affordability. Gold vermeil should not be confused with lower quality flash-plated jewelry and gold-plated jewelry.

Gold vermeil which is also known as ‘heavy gold plating,’ employs the same process as gold plating. To be called "vermeil", the item must have sterling silver (aka 925 silver) as the base metal, the gold must be at least 10K and the plating must measure a certain thickness.

What is the differences between gold vermeil and gold-plated jewelry?

Gold vermeil is more expensive than flash-plated and gold-plated jewelry because it uses sterling silver as the core material and uses considerably higher gold than gold-plated jewelry. We use 18-karat gold plating for its warm color, durability, and preciousness. Our 18K (karat) gold vermeil is one of the thickest available on the market and is 1 micron, which makes the jewelry more durable and resistant to tarnishing.

How long does ‘gold vermeil’ last?

What is difference between rhodium-vermeil sterling silver and sterling silver?

Both rhodium and sterling silver are precious metals that are used in jewelry making. They have some similarities, but the two metals are quite different.

You can’t tell the difference between rhodium-plated jewelry and sterling silver jewelry just by looking at it. These two options come in silverish.

Rhodium is a precious metal used as a plating metal to give other metals a shiny, protective finish, while sterling silver is an alloy of silver and other metals.

Rhodium-plated sterling silver is sterling silver with a layer of rhodium. It is a form of sterling silver crafted into a jewel. Both silver and rhodium are shiny metals; however, they are not equal.
